Abstract Submission is closed now.
General Information
Authors are invited to submit abstracts for a presentation in person at the European Conference on Spacecraft Structures, Materials and Environmental Testing (ECSSMET 2026). All abstracts will undergo a review process and may be accepted for presentation.
Two types of presentations are foreseen: oral presentations and poster presentations.
Moreover, there are contributed oral- and invited oral presentations.

Submission Guidelines
Please carefully read the guidelines below before submitting an abstract.
- The person submitting an abstract will automatically be the Presenting Author and the Corresponding Author.
- One or up to maximum five abstracts can be submitted by the Corresponding Author.
- Should an author have more than one abstract accepted for presentation, a co-author could be named as presenting author for such abstracts. In this case, please contact the conference chair of ECSSMET2026@dlr.de
- To submit an abstract, every Corresponding Author has to pre-register for the ECSSMET 2026 via this website.
Please use the button “Submit abstract” in order to submit your abstract. A confirmation email will be automatically sent to the email provided for the primary author once the abstract has been fully submitted. - Abstracts submitted by fax or e-mail will not be accepted.
- The Presenting Authors may request their preferred presentation type as oral or poster. Please note that the Scientific Programme Committee will endeavour to schedule abstracts according to authors’ preferences but reserves the right to decide on the final type of presentation.
- Abstracts could be either corrected or modified until the deadline of the abstract submission.
No modification and any corrections are possible after the abstract submission process is closed. - Abstracts must be received by the announced deadline. Abstracts received after the deadline will not be considered.
- The Presenting Author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before its submission.
- The Presenting Authors must ensure that all authors have given their consent to be listed as co-authors on the submitted abstract. Authorship and author order should be agreed upon by all authors.
- The Presenting Authors are responsible for the accuracy of all contents of the abstract.
- The Presenting Authors are required to complete a declaration of consent during the abstract submission process
- The Presenting Author must ensure that the contents of the abstract do not infringe the copyright and/or any other rights of any third party.
- All abstracts must be submitted and presented in English
- E-Mail with Acceptance Notification
Only the Corresponding Authors will be the point of contact for all communication and is required to share all necessary information with their co-author(s) and will receive the acceptance notification per email. - For all e-mail correspondence, please check both your inbox and junk mail folder for emails with the confirmation of proposing your paper for the ECSSMET 2026 and for the emails with the acceptance notification. ONLY the presenting author will be notified of the abstract submission status, session formats, and scheduling of presentations.
The Presenting Authors are responsible for informing all co-authors about the status of their submitted abstracts. - Registration
Presenting authors of abstracts must register and pay the participation fee.
Format and Content
Please use the provided abstract template to prepare your abstract. Length and style of the abstract are explained there. The Presenting Author must be underlined and the Corresponding Author’s email address must be given at the beginning of the page. The language is English.
The total limit of one page and 300-500 words must not be exceeded. Abstracts that do not comply with the size requirement
and structure may be rejected.
The abstract should be prepared and uploaded as a pdf-file.
Abstract Review
Your abstract will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee of the ECSSMET 2026 who decides on its acceptance based on the general scientific criteria (general interest, relevance, originality/novelty, quality, and clarity). The Scientific Committee decides whether a contribution will be presented orally or as a poster, trying to accommodate the preferences of the submitter as far as possible.
Acceptance notifications is planned to be send by E-Mail by 6 June 2026.
Proceedings
A selection of papers will be published later as Journal Publication. More information will follow.
GDPR
The handling of personal data is controlled by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and associated legislation.
Therefore, every presenter has to fill out and sign the DLR Declaration of Consent at the registration desk onsite.
Registration and Payment
The Presenting Authors of the accepted abstracts must register for the conference and complete the payment of the registration fee before the deadline. The deadline will be stated in the acceptance letter.
Registration is obligatory for every accepted presenter. Therefore, only primary authors will be provided with a link after acceptance to finalize their registration and to pay the related fee of the ECSSMET conference. If the presenting author does not register for the ECSSMET 2026 within the registration period, they will lose the right to present their paper at the ECSSMET 2026 conference without further notice (The deadline will be stated also in the email acceptance notification).
Any co-authors wishing to present with their primary author are required to register for the conference as well.
Please note:
Presenters are responsible for their own expenses, including the conference registration fee, travel, accommodations, and other expenses.

Registration Guidelines for Participants
Confirmed registration is required to participate in the European Conference on Spacecraft Structures, Materials and Environmental Testing (ECSSMET 2026) in Braunschweig, Germany.
BESL Eventagentur GmbH & Co. KG is our external partner for the participant registration and is also responsible for the invoicing and collection of participation fees.
Please check all information concerning the registration process and fees on this website starting from 25 February 2026.
We kindly ask you to provide the requested information in the required fields in the registration process. Upon the completion of the registration process, an electronic confirmation of the registration will be generated by the system and automatically sent to the e-mail address provided by the user. Please check your spam folder.
DATES
Registration is possible only via the registration tool of this website.
Registration will open on 08 June 2026.
Registration will close on 24 August 2026.
After 24 August 2026, registration is no longer possible. If there is a special case of exception, please send your e-mail request to the organizational office ECSSMET@dlr.de
Information about the ECSSMET 2026 Photos
After the event, the photos, especially the group photo taken by our DLR photographer will be made available exclusively online via the website of the ECSSMET 2026. Only registered participants of the ECSSMET 2026 will have access to the event photos in a password protected aera on the website. To enter the sub-page, you need a password for this password protected area on the website. The password will be sent to the registered participants only after the ECSSMET 2026.
Abstract Submitters Declaration
By submitting an abstract for the ECSSMET 2026 you consent with the fact that the abstract and your and your your co-authors name, affiliation and email address will be published on the conference website in a password protected area.
Moreover, we need your consent that the same information could be published in the ECSSMET 2026 conference programme booklet which is distributed shortly before the conference among all participants only via the conference website.
The conference programme will include the abstract and your and youre your co-authors name, affiliation and email address, an author list of the ECSSMET 2026.
The German Aerospace Center (DLR e. V.) as host of the ECSSMET 2026 is therefore not responsible for any other publication to other public portals or other external websites and tools.
Therefore, during abstract submission, you will be asked to declare the following:
- I confirm that I previewed this abstract and that all information is correct.
I accept that the content of this abstract cannot be modified or corrected after final submission and
I am aware that it will be published in the programme booklet of the ECSSMET 2026 (only online version) as submitted. - I confirm that the corresponding author’s email address and name must be given in the abstract at the beginning of the page.
To give your email address as abstract submitter/ corresponding author, at the beginning of the page of the abstract is being made on voluntary basis. - I confirm that the presenter and the coauthors names (first name and surname, affiliation as well as the email address of the presenter and co-authors) could be listed in the author list of the ECSSMET 2026 and published in the programme booklet (only online version).
We will only published your name, affiliation and email address, coauthors name, affiliation and email address in the book of abstract/ programme book ECSSMET 2026 (online version only), if you have expressly consented that this information / data could be published in the ECSSMET 2026 conference programme online version of the booklet which is distributed shortly before the conference among all participants via the conference website. - The abstract submitter warrants and represents that no part of the information and content provided by him/her to ECSSMET nor the publication of any such Content by the ECSSMET 2026 Organizers, on the internet /website of ECSSMET and programme booklet or otherwise infringes any third-party rights, including but not limited to privacy rights and/or intellectual property rights.
- I herewith confirm that the contact details saved in this system are those of the presenting author, who will be notified about the status of the abstract. The presenting author is responsible for informing the other authors about the status of the abstract. The submitting author may request to be copied on the abstract correspondence.
Please note:
We (ECSSMET 2026 / German Aerospace Center (DLR e.V.)) will not make your presentation slide accessible to others via the conference website of the ECSSMET 2026 neither won’t it be stored there at any time. There will be no provision of the programme booklet of the ECSSMET 2026 abstracts and later (after the conference) by the German Aerospace Center (DLR e.V.) for publication to other public portals and information channels of German Aerospace Center or other external websites and tools.
The website with all its stored information will be online until December 2027. The Organizers of the ECSSMET 2026 reserve the right to remove an abstract that does not comply with the above from publication and/or presentation.
